Disney has followed up last year’s viral festive hit ‘Lola’ with the return of Nicole, who is now all grown up with two children of her own – Max and Ella – and a new stepdad Mike preparing to move in.

The heartwarming 90-second piece shows the young family bond over a precious storybook belonging to the children’s birth father, with drawings springing to life in true Disney fashion as the family enjoy magical moments together as they turn its pages.

Designed to communicate the true meaning of Christmas, the emotional tale harnesses the power of animation and storytelling to show how existing festive family traditions can be enriched by new experiences.

Premiering today across TV and digital in 45 territories, the campaign sees Disney fire the starting gun on the all-important Christmas market, part of the broader ‘From Our Family to Yours’ festive retail campaign in support of Make-A-Wish, a charity dedicated to granting the wishes of children with critical illnesses.

Tasia Filippatos, senior vice-president, Disney EMEA, said: “We’re delighted to once again support long-term charity partner Make-A-Wish through our holiday campaign. Reading together can be a truly magical experience and our advert celebrates this age-old tradition and the wonder and imagination it inspires. We hope the story will resonate with anyone who has seen the magic ‘lift off the pages’ of a book through the eyes of a child.”

The advert was developed and produced by Disney EMEA’s in-house creative team, with assistance from Flux Animation Studios in New Zealand and story consultants, POCC.
