‘Shakespeare in the Dark’ sees Jackson channel her particular brand of humor to some of the Bard’s best-known works for a weekly web series produced in partnership between the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and Sexton Whiskey.

Marking the return of live theatre production, the series kicked off with a rendition of Hamlet, with Jackson turning her acting talents to the iconic ‘Get Thee to a Nunnery’ scene, with subsequent episodes set to tackle the Taming of the Shrew, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the Scottish Play.

Dr Anjna Chouhan at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust said: “Shakespeare is widely recognized as the world’s greatest playwright, so how better to demonstrate the power of performance than by getting up-close-and-personal with his wonderful plays?

“With his work still as relevant today as it was 400 years ago, this reimagining of some of his most iconic plays is sure to ignite the inner thespian in all of us. So be like Shakespeare, march to the beat of your own drum and head on over to Sexton’s Instagram channel and enjoy something truly unexpected.”

Drawing modern audiences to high culture through irreverent wit and plenty of whiskey, the series invites the public to awaken from their cultural slumber and hit the town once more.

Episodes screen exclusively on Sexton’s Instagram channel each Thursday at 6pm throughout October in the company of Jackson.
