Departed Good Morning Britain star Piers Morgan has made a dramatic return to Rupert Murdoch’s media empire after agreeing to join News Corp and Fox News Media in a worldwide deal.

Piers Morgan has signed up to lead the line-up at Rupert Murdoch’s new TV station TalkTV

Morgan walked out of his ITV role back in March following a bitter on-screen row with his co-hosts, sparked by him questioning the sincerity of Meghan Markle.

What will the new show be?

  • Morgan confirmed that he would host a new global TV show airing on weeknights in the US, UK and Australia on new station TalkTV. The presenter is the biggest name to have signed up for the station so far.

  • When not on TV screens Morgan will find time to publish a weekly column for the New York Post and The Sun, as well as present a new series of true crime documentaries from early next year.

  • All this comes as Morgan gears up for the publication of his latest tell-all tome by HarperCollins, the follow-up to The Sunday Times bestseller Wake Up.

  • Declaring that he was going to ’have fun’ with his new role, Morgan said: “Rupert Murdoch has been a constant and fearless champion of free speech and we are going to be building something new and very exciting together.

  • “I want my global show to be a fearless forum for lively debate and agenda-setting interviews, and a place that celebrates the right of everyone to have an opinion, and for those opinions to be vigorously examined and challenged. I’m going home and we’re going to have some fun.”

  • Rupert Murdoch, executive chairman of News Corp, added: “Piers is the broadcaster every channel wants but is too afraid to hire. Piers is a brilliant presenter, a talented journalist and says what people are thinking and feeling.”
