Instagram courts budding entrepreneurs with a mentorship program

Developed in tandem with Small Business Britain, the initiative seeks to help entrepreneurs get back on their feet following the pandemic by equipping them with all the tools and social commerce opportunities necessary to grow their Instagram business.

Successful applicants will benefit from a content workshop hosted by a top Instagram creator, covering a host of creative tips and tricks for maximizing the Facebook-owned platform to its fullest.

This will be accompanied by an hour-long coaching session, three monthly engagements to explore how best to utilize Instagram for Business and £1,000 of ad credits.

Instagram’s brand development lead Gord Ray said: “The past 18 months have been tough for small businesses, and this mentorship program is about supporting and helping business owners hone their creative and commercial skills in the digital space. This is a real opportunity for those looking to learn more about social commerce, creator content strategy and Instagram advertising.

“Small businesses have an unprecedented opportunity to re-shape the way people engage with and buy from their brands – we want to make sure they seize it. We hope this mentorship program will bring ambitious small businesses together, encourage creativity and help ‘the nation of shopkeepers’ accomplish great things in the run-up to the holiday period and beyond.”

In recent months Instagram has been busy honing its offer to better connect businesses with their customers through short-form video content via Reels, an improved Insights tool to gauge content performance and new Shopping tools such as Checkout.

Applications must be submitted via Small Business Britain ahead of a midnight cut-off on September 19, with the program then getting under way in October.
