Each year, The Drum Recommends collates thousands of ratings from brand marketers for a range of services via its platform to identify the agencies that consistently outperform their peers. The ratings process means that there are no judges to impress or entry reports to write – it all comes down to an agency’s ability to deliver for their clients.

This year's the winners were announced a virtual ceremony. Catch up below if you missed it.

Cat Hartland, head of The Drum Recommends, believes these awards have something special to offer. “They have always had a unique place within our industry. Relying solely on real client feedback allows us to highlight the agencies that come tested and proven by the most reliable sources, which other brand owners can trust when they’re looking for the next agency to work with.

“This year is particularly special as we emerge from one of the most challenging years we’ve ever experienced, and we award the agencies that have supported their clients through that time. These are certainly the agencies to be on your watchlist.”

Awards are given for service categories, the specific marketing and advertising services offered by an agency, as well as performance categories, five measurable areas that indicate a successful client relationship. Each category is divided into small, medium and large agencies.

The winners

This year’s grand prix for the Under 40 Staff category went to Brazil Street, a small but mighty team of six whose clients say “shows expertise from start to finish, always willing to help with fresh insights”. Another client described them as a great company, very professional with a great work ethic.

In the 40-99 category, it was a win for RocketMill, an independent agency that prides itself on putting its people first. Clients praised the staff’s “in-depth knowledge, thanks to a wide range of experts to guide you in the right direction”. One described them as “a brilliant choice of a local agency, with the knowledge and expertise you’d encounter in a big London agency”.

Finally, the top prize among agencies with over 100 staff went to the Golley Slater Group, advertising, media, PR and marketing specialists with bases in in Cardiff, Cirencester, Leeds and London. Their clients were impressed by the team’s strategic thinking, and “their ability to develop and implement very creative campaigns proactively”. Another client recommended them as a “very results-focused and transparent agency”.

The full list of this year’s winning agencies in the large, medium and small categories can be found on the website.
