Tesco’s brand director Michelle McEttrick has announced she will be stepping down from the role after six years. McEttrick’s exit signals the completion of a turnaround for the supermarket which began in 2015 and has seen Tesco overtake all but one of its competitors. There are no immediate plans to replace McEttrick, so her direct reports will now into chief customer officer Alessandra Bellini.

Tinder has announced George Felix will join the company as the new chief marketing officer overseeing the global brand and marketing strategy. He joins Tinder following an award-winning career at Yum! Brands and Procter & Gamble where he brought brands like KFC, Old Spice, and Pizza Hut into the center of the cultural conversation. And in 2018, he was named Ad Age’s Brand Marketer of the Year.

Agencies

WMcCann has revealed that as of 1 July 2021, Hugo Rodrigues, who has spent the past three-and-a-half years as chairman and CEO, will assume the role of executive chairman, while André França, vice-president of data and media, will be the new agency CEO. The news follows after a stellar few years for WMcCann, which has seen 11 account wins in 11 months, jumping from 15th to third place in the ranking of agencies.

Justine Armour, chief creative officer of Grey New York, has announced that Tim Jones will be joining the agency as chief creative officer of Pharma, the fast-growing global practice serving many of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies and leading brands. Jones joins Grey from McCann Health New York where he has served as executive vice president, executive creative director since 2019 overseeing creative across multiple leading brands and therapeutic areas.

TBWA has revealed that Nancy Reyes is being elevated to chief executive officer of TBWA\Chiat\Day New York. With this promotion, Reyes expands her role and takes over full leadership of the agency from Rob Schwartz, who has been CEO since 2015. It’s the latest step in a steady rise since Reyes joined the agency in April 2016 as managing director, becoming president in July 2018. She will report to Troy Ruhanen, CEO, TBWA\Worldwide.

Independent creative studio and Certified B Corporation, Coffee & TV has announced two senior appointments: Lisa Green joins as managing partner, bringing her vast strategic experience as co-founder and managing director of Channel 4’s 4Creative and Karamarama’s production arm, Kream, and Dan Keefe, co-founder of BBH’s Black Sheep Studios, comes on board as executive producer.

Emily Marr, currently head of development at MJZ, is returning to Leo Burnett after 14 years in the newly created role of chief production officer. In the new homestead, she will report to chief creative officer Chaka Sobhani – who Marr previously worked with as head of TV production at Mother in 2016. the chief production officer is tasked with producing more dynamic and diverse content for clients including McDonald’s, Premier Inn, TUI and Vision Express.

Elsewhere

The World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) has announced its new leadership team ahead of Global Marketer Week 2021, with a raft of new appointments from leading global brands and national advertiser associations. Conny Braams, chief digital and marketing officer at Unilever, will become deputy President on 1 December, taking over from Phil Myers, senior vice-president for global public policy and government affairs at PepsiCo, who has served as part of the WFA leadership since 2019 and remains on the executive committee. Raja Rajamannar, chief marketing and communications officer at Mastercard, has been re-elected as president for a second term, running until April 2023.

Pocc (People of Culture Collective) has announced that Kevin Morosky will take on the role of chief creative officer. Morosky will be leaving his current role at Havas Jump to oversee Pocc’s creative services, including the Pocc Creative Studio, Pocc Productions and Pocc Talks, as well as brand activations such as the Pocc x Clear Channel Art Fund.
