World Creative Rankings: most awarded copywriters and art directors revealed

Publicis’ work for Diesel was ranked highly in this year’s World Creative Rankings

The most awarded agencies in the UK, US and APAC regions have today been revealed in the latest instalment of the World Creative Rankings.

Published by The Drum, this annual study aggregates and analyzes the results of all of the advertising industry’s major international award schemes to determine which companies, clients, and creatives produced the most celebrated work of the previous calendar year.

Today, we reveal the penultimate sections of the World Creative Rankings, by unveiling the list of the top art directors and copywriters in the world, by award wins.

Which art directors have made the cut?

  • Reflecting his agency’s strong performance in this year’s rankings, Scholz & Friends’ Max Marohn takes the top spot as the most-awarded art director for 2020.

  • Max Hultberg of Ingo Stockholm and Publicis’ Ivan Montebello followed; Publicis agencies’ work for Heineken, Burger King and Diesel placed highly throughout the rankings.

  • Camilo (Sazky) Jimenez and Sergio Takahata of David placed joint fourth.

What about copywriters?

  • Paul Chan of Cheil Hong Kong wins this year’s copywriting category, in part for his work for Chupa Chups.

  • Scholz & Friends copywriters Ilona Hartmann (lately of Aufbau Verlag) and Sebastian Stelzer took second and third place respectively, while Magnus Ivansson of Ingo Stockholm followed.
