Starstruck hires new managing director

Starstruck has appointed Emma Sheldon as managing director

The Drum Top 100 agency, Starstruck, has appointed Emma Sheldon as managing director, as the content agency looks to grow its client roster. With more than 20 years’ experience across TV, social and live events, Sheldon joins from creative gaming agency ADVNCR, where she was head of production.

Having led production teams for MTV, Done and Dusted, Fulwell 73 and Progress Productions, Sheldon has produced comedy specials for Netflix and music and entertainment shows for the BBC and Channel 4, as well as overseeing live activations for clients including Microsoft, EA and Apple.

Working alongside chief executive officer and founder Adrian Dickson and creative director James Delow, her focus will be on growing the branded content, live and broadcast sides of the business from Starstruck’s London hub in Soho. Starstruck, whose clients include British Airways, WWE and Shell, recently created a four-part series for LinkedIn focusing on the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.

Dickson said: “Emma brings a wealth of industry knowledge, experience and connections to our team, making her the perfect first managing director of Starstruck. She’s had huge success in the industry across a range of different client sectors, so with Emma in a leadership position, we can drive further growth and continue to deliver live and engaging fast-turnaround content in an agile way.”

Sheldon said: “I’m inspired by the work Starstruck have delivered in the past and their style of shaping the creative, rather than simply responding to a brief is incredibly refreshing. In this hugely challenging and competitive environment, it’s even more important to be versatile and adapt to client needs and I’m excited to drive the business forward and deliver more fantastic content.”

Starstruck operates in London and Los Angeles, creating award-winning content series, human-interest stories, documentaries and live broadcasts for brands in sectors spanning travel, sport, television and publishing.
