Let’s face it: working in marketing means you have naturally developed a slightly nerdy understanding of all things ad land and are probably able to list all of the characters from the last six John Lewis Christmas ads without even blinking. Actually, maybe that’s just me.

For this year’s Advertising Week Europe, The Drum has teamed up with Guinness World Records to host a lively marketing quiz, where we will be testing your knowledge on everything from GDPR to which brands Ant and Dec have represented on TV ads over the years.

Hosted at our very own Drum Pub (just round the corner from Picturehouse Central at The Queen’s Head Pub), quiz master Craig Glenday, editor-in-chief at Guinness World Records, will be testing the marketing expertise of each team, moving through questions on jingles to logos and even record-breaking brand achievements.

Over the years, the Guinness World Records has seen several advertising records broken by major brands. For example, back in 2019, the Department of Culture and Tourism for Abu Dhabi achieved the world record for the largest augmented reality screen after it transformed the famous 40-foot digital billboard in London’s Piccadilly Circus into an AR extravaganza.

Meanwhile, ASML achieved the world record for the smallest ever advertisement, which measured just is 258.19 μm2; while car brand Porsche achieved the world record for the largest ever newspaper insert, which measured at a much longer 3.55m2. So, get revising, as these might just end up as questions on the big day!

The quiz will take place on Wednesday 18 March at 4.30PM to 6.00PM. If you would like to enter a team of four, or would like to enter as an individual to be put onto a team, then please email jason.warner@thedrum.com. We hope to see you there!
