This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below.

This week includes moves from The Times, Ryanair, Forbes, Samsung, Dentsu Aegis, Twitch, Time, Dunkin' Donuts and Taco Bell.

EMEA people are on the move

The Times

Tony Gallagher has today been appointed deputy editor of The Times as he steps down as editor-in-chief of The Sun after four years. Victoria Newton, currently editor of The Sun on Sunday will replace him.

Ryanair

Ryanair's chief marketing officer, Kenny Jacobs, is to step down after six years. The Irish airline has not announced who is to replace Jacobs.

Dentsu Aegis

The Guardian's chief revenue officer, Hamish Nicklin, is to join Dentsu Aegis UK and Ireland, to head up its media side as executive director. He will report to Euan Jarvie, chief exec and Peter Huijboom, global chief exec of Dentsu Media and Global Clients.

Samsung

Sharon Hegarty has been appointed the IT and mobile marketing director of Samsung UK and Ireland. She joins from Virgin Media, where she held the role of director, marketing and brand.

Great State

Great State has named AKQA’s former head of delivery, Jinny Mitchell-Kent, as its first chief operating officer. Mitchell-Kent joins the leadership line-up with immediate effect, reporting into managing director, Neil Collard.

Avantgarde London

Avantgarde London has promoted two members of its senior team. Tessa Mardon will take on the role of head of client services, and Rory Sloan will move up to operations director.

Wavemaker

Wavemaker has appointed Alastair Bannerman as global client president, reporting to chief exec Toby Jenner. Bannerman will be based in London, joining its global client presidents Anna Hickey and Alex Altman in Wavemaker’s global leadership team.

The Specialist Works

The Specialist Works has appointed ex-Mindshare director, Kevin Kirby as group online media director as the agency continues its period of rapid growth and transformation.

23red

23red has launched a PR function, to be led by ex-freuds director, Jody Hall. Besides the PR function, the agency has gone through a leadership restructure, with Jane Asscher contining as agency chief exec - though her remit will be to drive the agency’s growth strategy.

Joining Hall and Assscher, Tristan Cavanagh has been promoted to creative director, Rachel Tattersdill takes on head of client services and director, Philippa Dunning, who is currently founding partner, operations, will hand over some of her operational responsibilities to focus on running 23red's resoucing model and Alex Davis will head up finance. Alongside this, Sean Kinmont has been promoted to executive creative director.

APAC people on the move

Twitch

Twitch is expanding its sphere of operations to the Asia-Pacific with the appointment of Sunita Kaur as its first managing director for the region. Kaur will be based in Singapore with a remit to grow the local Twitch community and improve the service for all benefit content creators, media partners, agencies, advertisers, publishers, and developers.

Time

Annie Chiam has been appointed the director of partnerships, APAC, at Time. She will be based in Singapore, joining from NBC.

BBDO India

BBDO India has appointed Digvijay Singh Shekhawat as general manager and executive vice-president to head its Bengaluru operations. He will report to its chief exec, Suraja Kishore.

Wavemaker

Wavemaker has appointed Mansi Datta as managing partner. In her new role, Datta will head operations for Wavemaker India and will report into Ajay Gupte, chief exec Wavemaker, South Asia.

Appier

Appier has appointed Lee Feng Chien to its board of directors. A veteran of the technology industry, he was most recently at the helm of Google Taiwan, where he supervised growth and operations as managing director for 14 years.

Havas Media India

Anita Nayyar, the chief exec of Havas Media India and Southeast Asia, is move on after 13 years with the network. Its group managing director, Mohit Joshi, will replace her.

McCann Worldgroup Singapore

In a newly-created position at McCann Worldgroup Singapore, Mark Ringer has been appointed both regional creative director APAC, Mastercard, and executive creative director. He joins from Dentsu Singapore.

Taco Bell

Taco Bell has found Marisa Thalberg’s replacement in Nikki Lawson, who departs her role at KFC to become its sister company’s global chief brand officer. Lawson will join the Tex-Mex brand in April, following the departure of predecessor Thalberg last August.

Dunkin' Brands

Dunkin’ Brands has promoted Jill McVicar Nelson to serve as vice-president of marketing strategy at the restaurant holding group, parent of both Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins. Nelson has been put in charge of a newly reorganised team responsible for brand marketing and planning together with developing value and pricing strategies, reporting directly to Dunkin' Brands chief executive Dave Hoffmann.

Forbes

Forbes has promoted Lynn Schlesinger as chief marketing officer, with oversight for all brand and demand marketing that allow marketing partners to deeply engage and connect with coveted audiences. Schlesinger first joined Forbes last year as group vice-president, brand and demand marketing.

Leo Burnett

Mike Davidson will join Leo Burnett Chicago as executive vice president, head of integrated production. Davidson was most recently head of integrated production at Wieden+Kennedy Portland.

Firewood

Firewood has expanded its senior leadership team by promoting Jennifer Fey to senior vice president, digital media. Fey will continue to oversee media operations and client servicing, and will help drive new and expanded digital media programs for clients.

Firewood has also promoted senior technology leader Ron Davis to chief technology officer, a new role for the agency.

Cadent

Cadent has appointed Jogn Tigg as vice-president and managing director of EMEA, John Tigg. This is a newly-created role and Tigg has been tasked with helping the agency to accelerate addressable advertising in Europe.

Deutsch LA

Deutsch LA has hired Kelsey Karson as senior vice-president, group strategy director, to lead all strategy efforts for Taco Bell. Karson joins Deutsch from R/GA.
