To promote the return of Peter Crouch's BBC podcast, the former England striker has punk'd his wife by getting a fake tattoo.

Back for its third series 'That Peter Crouch Podcast' sees the former footballer team up with BBC Sport's Tom Fordyce and Radio 1's Chris Stark. Offering a candid look into the life of a professional footballer, the podcast works as a guide on everything from dressing rooms to keeping on the right side of your manager.

To ensure its return to BBC Sounds doesn't go unnoticed, BBC Creative designed a fake tattoo of the England striker doing his iconic football celebration - the 'robot' - which Crouch then donned to shock his partner.

Crouch is shown in a tattoo shop as he video calls his wife, Abbey Clancy, to let her know. Unsurprisingly, she isn't best pleased.

On the prank video, Claire Jullien, portfolio head of marketing, said: “Promoting That Peter Crouch Podcast is always an enjoyable experience and with Series 3, we’ve pushed even harder to encapsulate the personality of ‘Crouchy’ and the podcast itself throughout all our activity, with the prank being the perfect hero piece”.

When the second series returned in March last year, the team took a similarly humorous approach. The spot showed a BBC anchor seemingly delivering some 'breaking news' which turns out to be Crouch's second series.
