Doritos gets Sam Elliott and Lil Nas X to tease its Super Bowl ad
Lil Nas X is riding into the Doritos Super Bowl teasers, joining Sam Elliott to promote Cool Ranch Doritos.

Elliott often plays a cowboy in his acting roles, from the Stranger in the Big Lebowski to Virgil Earp in Tombstone. For the Super Bowl, he is donning his big hat and spurs again to promote Cool Ranch Doritos, while Lil Nas X plays a sheriff of sorts, entering on horseback to his own soundtrack.
The first teaser spot finds Elliott swaggering into an old time saloon. The barkeep puts a whiskey in front of him and the poker playing clientele eye him as he approaches the bar. Then Elliott, in his deep-voiced drawl, launches into a monologue: “I got the horses in the back, horse tack is attached, hat is matte black…” And that’s when we realize he’s reciting Lil Nas X’s big hit Old Town Road.
After a few more lyrics, the deep bass of the tune thumps the bar as Elliott walks out the swinging doors. Cut to a bag of Cool Ranch Doritos with ‘More Cool Ranch’ sliding down the bar as text states 02.02.20, the date of the Super Bowl.

Lil Nas X is seen in a second teaser for the brand. The action moves from the saloon to a trail leading into town, where the star rides in on a horse with a thumping bass sound system. Lil Nas X rides into town like a new sheriff, with a black hat and bejeweled suit.
Doritos recently announced two remix flavors: Flamin’ Hot Limon and revamped Cool Ranch, with the latter appearing to get the star treatment during the game.
