STV News overhauls website and apps
STV News has overhauled its digital output with the launch of an all-new website and apps, developed in partnership with Bright Signals, to reinforce its current affairs output.
STV News digital revamp delivers all-new website and apps
The new website is now live with accompanying apps available to download on iOS and Android, all buffed by a live tab that informs readers of the latest breaking news.
Steven Ladurantaye, STV’s head of news and current affairs, said: “The way people access news is changing and STV is continually evolving its digital offering. Our monthly digital readership is on par with the number of people tuning in to watch STV News on air – and continues to grow. STV News reaches around 1.3 million people each week, it claims a similar volume are reaching it digitally too.
“In an era of ‘fake news’ it is vital that our readers know where their news comes from - we are using state-of-the-art tools to enable our reporters to create and curate trusted news and features. A further key service on the new site is the ‘live’ view, which allows up to the minute access to the latest STV News stories in chronological order without being subject to external algorithms.”
The digital push follows the migration of audiences from broadcast to digital platforms with video news content generating over 200m views in 2019. This follows the closure of STV 2 last year in light of disappointing audiences.
