Independent media agency Electric Glue, which launched five years ago, has promoted strategist Darius Karbassioun to the role of managing director.

Karbassioun has been with the agency for 18 months.

Prior to his time at Electric Glue, he was at BBH for ten years following a brief spell with media agency, Mindshare.

At BBH, Karbassioun held a number of strategic positions. He was part of the team that established Engagement Planning in both BBH London and BBH China, and most recently, in helping to establish BBH Sport in 2014.

In both roles, he worked closely with with founding Electric Glue partners, Kevin Brown, Simon Orpin (ex ITV) and Nick Kendall (ex BBH).

Electric Glue CEO, Simon Orpin, said: “We were delighted to attract someone of Darius’s caliber when we were just three years old. He has contributed to our success to date and this promotion reflects our belief in his ability to continue our growth."

Electric Glue was initially established as an independent media agency to support the Garage Soho, an start-up incubator created ad-legend Sir John Hegarty and venture capitalist Tom Teichman.

Hegarty is also a chairman of Electric Glue, which has attracted established clients such as Rightmove, DW Fitness First and Freesat since its launch.

Karbassioun said: “I jumped at the opportunity to work with Kevin Brown again and help build a different kind of media agency. One that brings media and creative back together by collaborating with like-minded creative agencies and forging long-term partnerships with media owners. I want to help supercharge Electric Glue to join a new wave of brilliant independent media agencies.”
