New research compiled by Vodafone has found that 40% of creative professionals are at their most innovative and productive while out and about as opposed to being cooped up in the office.

40% of small businesses produce their best ideas ‘on the go’

The findings give weight to the importance of connectivity and technology to firms wishing to maximize their potential, with half of the small firms believing that the right tools enable them to compete with larger competitors.

Principally these centre on the need to provide a reliable (41%) and speedy (40%) internet connection, to enable creativity to flourish.

On the report, Anne Sheehan, Vodafone UK Enterprise Director, commented: “It’s hugely encouraging to see that smaller businesses in the creative industries are increasingly competitive, due in part to technology.

"They rely on tech in many ways – to communicate ideas, to seek inspiration and to enable flexible working. But they tell us they are not IT experts and need help to gain the maximum benefit - which is where trusted technology partners can play a role.”

Vodafone commissioned the research in support of its Business Heroes event which draws together entrepreneurs and creatives to discuss the relationship between business and ideas.

The findings are drawn from the responses of 500 British small businesses specialising in the creative sector where 38% now choose to share their work and ideas digitally rather than in person.
