This week's 10 Questions are put to Nick Constantinou, managing director of Nodes.
What was your first ever job?
Getting paid to take part in a documentary about Identical Twins on the Beeb at the age of 13. I have an identical twin brother, 20 minutes apart, that's a true story. Thankfully it was when VHS ruled, good luck finding it online. Phew.
Which industry buzzword annoys you most?
Innovation is used everywhere like a sticking plaster for anything 'new’.
Who do you find most interesting to follow on social media?
Highlight of your career (so far?)
Helping build AKQA and working on the Xbox console for over two years in San Francisco with a great team. Hard work, hard play but an epic chapter.
What piece of tech can you not live without?
A nice notebook and a sharp pencil. Love my tech but we all need to be set free sometimes.
Who or what did you have posters of on your bedroom wall as a teenager?
A Porsche 911, Ferrari Testarossa and Dennis Bergkamp.
In advertising, what needs to change soon?
Less naval gazing, ad dinosaurs and inflated egos. More genuine diversity, active listening, and creativity.
What is (in your opinion) the greatest film/album/book of your life?
I’m not that important! Anything my kids enjoy reading I love to get into, escape with them into another world.
Which industry event can you not afford to miss each year and why?
Sorry, not Cannes. I like going to the degree shows and D&AD to see the next wave of talent.
What's the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
It's not how many times you get knocked down that counts, it's how many times you get back up.
