The Drum's Leadership Lessons podcast series hears from some of the leading industry bosses in media and marketing - in order to learn about their management styles and the leaders and events that have inspired their success. This latest episode hears the thoughts and experiences of Accenture Interactive’s global chief executive, Brian Whipple.
During the discussion, Whipple shared his views on what leadership meant, how he saw himself as a leader and on decision making, his leadership icons and some lessons he has learned along the way in his career.
“Many people in leadership positions surround themselves with like minds with like backgrounds, like a club of common interests, and I would suppose I would put forward that that is the wrong strategy for most businesses. At least it might be fine for a reading club or a baseball or soccer club. But that's not what business is,” he stated while talking about what he learned from one of his leadership leaders, former chief executive of Accenture, Pierre Nanterme.
Other Leadership Lessons interviewees have included InterPublic Group's chief executive Michael Roth, Publicis Groupe UK's chief executive Annette King, Havas Creative Group chief executive Chris Hirst and Rob Pierre, the chief executive of Jellyfish Group.
