Ketel One sponsors second season of Adam Rippon’s YouTube series Break the Ice

Martinis and ice skating are a winning pairing on skater Adam Rippon’s second season of Break the Ice, an interview and variety show on YouTube.

Olympic medalist Rippon returns as host for season two, now sponsored by Ketel One Vodka. Notable changes to the skating-meets-interview format now that the vodka brand is sponsoring are replacing season one’s ‘hot chocolate moment’ with Ketel One cocktails and highlighting an unexpected, magical moment each episode that will happen organically on set with each guest.

The show, developed and produced by Portal A, garnered more than 3.5m views across platforms in its first season. The show mixes chat with the affable host and a few choice moves – and a few slips and falls – on the ice.

Said Nate Houghteling, co-founder, executive producer, Portal A: "Break the Ice is a perfect example of a celebrity athlete embracing the power of YouTube."

Season two, which begins 30 October, will include eight, ten-minute-long episodes with guests Bobby Berk from Queer Eye, Zach Villa from American Horror Story, Jackie Tohn from Glow, Superfruit from YouTube, Betty Who, Shannon Boodram and figure skater Meryl Davis.

Said Rippon in a release: “Break The Ice is all about making people feel included. Whether they’re a pro-skater or have never skated before in their life, the show is all about making them feel like they are in good company. A marvelous world is one where experiences are bettered by being together, and that is exactly what we’re doing with Ketel One Vodka. It just happens to be in a skating rink.”

Jim Ruane, brand director, Ketel One Vodka, added: "We love working with Adam. He’s a longtime collaborator and we consider him part of the Ketel One family. When he asked if we wanted to join up for the new season of ‘Break The Ice,’ we jumped at the opportunity. Adam’s message of inclusivity in democratizing his craft is inspiring to us as a brand, and we can’t wait for viewers to see what marvelous moments unfold on the ice over the course of this season."
