The band, who have been together since 1996, first came out the woodwork last week when they teased about their eighth studio album via a series of posters spotted in a number of cities including Berlin, Hong Kong and Sydney. Done in the style of a vintage old photograph, the band members are seen seated amongst famous philosophers including Friedrich Nietzsche.

They then changed their profile picture to an image of a sun and moon; the first glimpse of the artistic direction the album would take - an experimental album split in two halves.

Following that, the band then sent round letters to their fans across the globe that read 'In the classifieds, you might write 'double album' for sale, one very careful owner. One half is called 'sunrise,' the other 'sunset.' It is out 22 November.'

Two days later, an ad appeared in the North Wales Daily Post newspaper alongside items for sale that included a fridge freezer, a small hay bale and a luxury double divan bed.

Although the Daily Post may seen a random choice, Coldplay guitarist Jonny Buckland hails from Flintshire and once worked at the local newspaper as a summer job.

On a tweet from Coldplay's account, Buckland wrote: 'I once had a holiday at the Daily Post, placing photos of houses for sale. I wasn't very good at it.'
