Global launches flagship 24-hour rolling news radio station

London-based media and entertainment company Global is to launch a 24-hour rolling news radio channel from 28 October to cement its place as the home of breaking news.

Available on DAB digital radio and augmented by a web and social media presence the channel will offer an all you can eat diet of news, travel, weather and sport hosted by experienced hands including former Sky News presenters Martin Stanford, Lisa Aziz, Ian Payne as well as Jim Diamond.

Ashley Tabor-King, Global’s founder & executive president, said: “As the first commercial radio station in the UK, LBC has a 46-year history of providing the latest news, so it is exciting to launch LBC News, a new, dedicated station for the brand that can stay with major stories and events live longer and dedicate itself to pure news.

"With Global’s 24-hour rolling news radio channel, there will be no opinion or debate, just the news – on the radio, online and on our app – live, as it happens.”

LBC News will draw upon a team of 140 broadcast and multi-media journalists spread across 13 UK newsrooms with support from a network of reporters around the world. Operating under the strapline ‘Where The News Never Stops’ it will sit alongside sister station LBC which will continue to invite listeners to debate the biggest stories of the day.

Last month Global further expanded its biggest radio brands with the launch of five digital channels.
