The Pride of Britain Awards to receive special prize in 2oth year at The Drum Experience Awards

The annual event, sponsored by TSB, aims to honour the bravery of Brits who have made sacrifices for others or acted extraordinarily. They are organised in association with Reach-owned tabloid The Daily Mirror, Good Morning Britain and The Prince’s Trust, among other partner organisations.

Televised since 2000, the Pride of Britain awards are hosted by Carol Vorderman and have been hosted at Grosvenor House in London since 2011.

Peter Willis, editor of The Sunday Mirror and founder of the Pride of Britain awards, told The Drum the paper was "extremely grateful" when he learnt of the recognition.

"We launched back in 1999 as a way in which, with the help of our readers, we could celebrate the remarkable achievements of unsung heroes. For us and our ITV partners, it's been a real privilege to tell hundreds of extraordinary stories over the past two decades which have been truly inspiring.

"In these turbulent times, it's perhaps more important than ever to focus on what unites us as a nation and what we should be celebrating."

Pete Markey, chief marketing officer for sponsor TSB, commented: “Pride of Britain is a national institution. Now 20 years old its the only awards event of its kind recognising the inspiring and brilliant work of individuals who make a difference in their communities every single day.

"At TSB we love partnering with Pride of Britain and being part of such a positive celebration every year. Congratulations to all the Pride of Britain team for this amazing win."

The winners of The Drum Experience Awards, supported by Winmo, will be announced on Wednesday 4 November at The Marriott Hotel in Grosvenor Square London.

The chair of the jury this year is Michelle Linaker, head of national events for Pride of Britain, who will be on hand to announce the winner of the Chair’s awards too.
