Sportswear specialist Asics has teamed up with KLM to offer 30,000 employees and frequent travellers the chance to discover the mental and physical benefits of running for themselves.

Part of KLM’s Vitality programme the scheme will provide access to running events, training and footwear including the ‘Asics KLM100’, a shoe celebrating the airline’s 100th birthday.

Alistair Cameron, chief executive at Asics EMEA said: “We’re excited to partner with KLM who share our belief in the power of running to help us feel better. We want to get more people to experience the positive benefits of running to improve both physical and mental well-being. With KLM’s commitment to employee health and vitality and Asics’ running expertise, more people will feel the difference that running can make.”

Pieter Elbers, president and chief executive at KLM added: “Exercise makes you fitter, more energetic and happier. At work, but also in your private life. When you feel good, you can get the best out of yourself. I’m pleased about our partnership with Asics, which will see us inspiring our staff and customers to get physically fit, have a great experience and explore the world while running.”

Participants will also have access to Asics’ Runkeeper app to help keep the pace.

Asics has previously worked on a 'blackout' running track to reinforce the impact of running on the mind.
