Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox has brought its first high-profile casualties with the reported exit of senior marketing executives Greg Drebin and Jennifer Chai as part of a wider programme of lay-offs.

Senior Disney marketing execs laid off

Drebin was promoted to his role as marketing executive vice-president at 20th Century Fox TV Distribution in early 2018, having previously served as senior vice president. In all close to 60 media distribution employees will lose their jobs across both Disney and Fox as the entertainment giant acts to realise efficiencies.

This follows the exit of 20th Century Fox TV Distribution president Mark Kaner in March who departed before the ink was dry on Disney’s $71.3bn acquisition of Fox’s studio and entertainment empire.

At the time of the takeover it was estimated that as many as 4,000 staff could be let go owing to the duplication of roles in the merger aftermath.

That process is now in full swing with a restructuring of Walt Disney and Star India's APAC business.
