Vizeum UK’s prodigal son Mike McCoy returns as CEO

Dentsu Aegis Network has wooed Mike McCoy to serve as UK chief executive of Vizeum, a role he will pick up from September.

McCoy has come full circle since beginning his career at Aegis Media, the precursor to Dentsu Aegis Network, back in 2000.

In all McCoy spent a dozen years at the agency, rising to become a managing partner at Vizeum.

He then left to serve in the leadership team at Amplifi and launched The Story Lab as a premium content offering in the UK.

“It’s very exciting to return to Vizeum, which played such a pivotal role in my formative years within the industry," said McCoy of his return to take on the top job.

"The rate of change that the media industry is experiencing presents plenty of challenges but also a lot of opportunities. I’m looking forward to working with some of the best strategists and planners in the industry to help them harness these opportunities.”

In the role, McCoy will serve clients including Burger King, Camelot and IKEA and report directly to Matthew Platts, executive director of media & performance at Dentsu Aegis Network. T

"Mike has demonstrated an innate understanding of how to help clients identify the different ways media can be used to help them grow as a business. He combines sharp, strategic thinking with an in-depth knowledge of how content can be used to help reach modern audiences in a meaningful way. This makes him a great fit to lead the next stage of Vizeum’s continued evolution as a modern media agency.”

The Dentsu Aegis UK top team were subject to an earlier reshuffle at the end of last year.
