Quibi/NBC News pairing targets Millenials with mobile news bulletins

NBC News is chasing after the millennial market with a partnership with fledgling OTT service Quibi to bring two original daily news shows to viewers by April 2020.

The news bulletins, titled Daily Essentials, will stream each morning and evening seven days a week exclusively on the Quibi mobile platform.

Each bulletin will bring people up to speed with the world in just six minutes of material curated and produced by NBC News complete with its own hosts, dedicated correspondents and original content. The shows are filmed at a purpose-built studio in New York.

Employing mixed-reality graphics to put viewers in the picture the initiative will put Quibi on the fast-track to becoming a respected news portal by giving it access to NBC News resources, technical support and reporters.

NBC News became the latest broadcaster to enter the streaming fray itself last month with the launch of NBC News Now, the networks own digital streaming service which will directly power Daily Essentials.
