The auto brand partnered with ITV to launch the campaign on 16 July. The 60 second film featured a skateboarding astronaut in zero G environment. A voiceover talks viewers through the legacy of the moon landing in 1969.

Focus later changes to Earth where a man is enjoying driving the Nissan Qashqai, it comparable to skateboarding on the moon.

The spot concludes with a simple line: “Technology is beautiful, when it moves us“

The score of the soundtrack is Johann Strauss II Blue Danube -an homage to 2001: A Space Odyssey. NIssan said the film illustrates that it is repositioning itself from a car manufacturer to a tech company.

Xavier Diquet, Nissan Europe content and engagement GM, said: “Technology for the sake of technology is worthless, what matters is how it makes you feel.

"At Nissan, this is exactly what we strive for. To give drivers a greater, more exciting, amplified driving experience thanks to the power of Nissan Intelligent Mobility innovations“.

Planned and bought by Manning Gottlieb OMD, with creative by TBWA the full 360 campaign includes TV, cinema, press ads, digital and social activations and will air across Europe.
