This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below.

EMEA people are on the move


The Weetabix Food Company has appointed Gareth Turner as head of brand, Weetabix, to lead the long-term brand strategy for the nation’s favourite cereal, the Weetabix brand and its portfolio.

Direct Line Group

As part of a reorganisation of Direct Line Group's senior management team, Mark Evans has been promoted to the executive committee, stepping up from marketing director to managing director of marketing and digital.

Omnicom Media Group

Omnicom Media Group has confirmed the double appointment of Dan Clays and Tim Pearson to serve as OMG UK and OMD Group UK chief executive officers, respectively.

Reckitt Benckiser

Reckitt Benckiser has poached Pepsi chief commercial officer Laxman Narasimhan to serve as its new chief executive officer with a pledge to ‘transform’ the consumer goods giant.


Innocean's global chief creative officer, Jeremy Craigen, has left the company. The move follows a restructure of the agency's marketing, sales and advertising strategy.

Target Group

Eleni Sarla, currently chief client officer at Havas Media Group, has been promoted to chief exec of Target Group, a specialist Havas division that specialises in culture, film and gaming.


Adam&eve/DDB has promoted its executive strategy director, Martin Beverley, to chief strategy officer. He joined the agency in 2015 from W+K.


Proximity has promoted Mike Dodds from global president to global chief exec. Its current chief executive Doug Worple will move into the role of chairman.


The former deputy chief executive of Leo Burnett London, Sarah Baumann, is to join VaynerMedia. She will take up the role of managing director of its London office, reporting to Gary Vaynerchuk.


72andSunny Amsterdam has named Sarah Sutton as its new director of communications strategy. In her new role, Sutton leads a team of communication strategists as part of the agency’s holistic strategy discipline.


Monetate has appointed Lisa Kalscheur as its new chief marketing officer. Kalscheur will work with Monetate to build its brand globally as the company enters its next phase of growth.

La Chose

La Chose has welcomed Fabien Teichner as its new chief creative officer. Teichner has been brought on to help the agency grow stronger in strategy, digital and data.

Bibby Financial Services

Bibby Financial Services has appointed digital marketing expert and renowned pâtissier, Laure Moyle, as its global head of digital to help drive its digital customer experience.

William Lea

Williams Lea has appointed Dan O’Brien as chief financial officer. O’Brien will oversee Williams Lea finance, legal and compliance functions and will report to the company’s chief exec Clare Hart.

Cheil UK

David Bedford has been appointed digital strategy director at Cheil UK. This is a newly-created role at the agency.

The North Alliance

The North Alliance (NoA) has appointed ex-Dare chief exec Michael Olaye as its chief growth officer. Olaye will be building a stronger footprint for NoA internationally by leading the network’s global growth initiatives, with Stockholm as his base.

Medialab Group

Medialab Group has appointed Kirsty Spickett to the new role of commercial director. Spickett will work with existing Medialab clients and the agency leadership team to unlock transparent revenue growth for all parties.


Huge has hired Astrid van Essen as head of client services. In her new role, van Essen will report directly to managing director, Alex Pym, where she will be tasked with oversight of the agency’s key European clients.


Blood cancer charity DKMS has hired Jonathan Pearce as chief exec of its UK operations to spearhead the organisation’s growth within the UK market.

APAC people on the move

S4 Capital

Sir Martin Sorrell’s S4 Capital has tapped ex-WPP exec Scott Spirit as chief growth officer to focus on clients, mergers, acquisitions and investor relations out of its newly opened Singapore office.

Isobar China

Tammy Sheu joins Isobar China Group as its new chief operating officer, where she will be responsible for promoting integration across the network and improving the business' efficiency by accelerating the pace of its transformation.


MediaMonks has hired former APD Singapore chief executive Tobis Wilson as its vice president of growth in APAC, as the S4-owned company plots major growth in the region.


Chris Riley has been named GroupM's chief exec for its New Zealand wing. Currently chief operating officer and managing director of Wavemaker, he will now lead strategy for the group.

McCann Australia

Nicole Taylor, chief exec of McCann Australia, has announced she is leaving the agency after a year. She is said to be taking up a new role in Europe to be closer to her UK family.


ByteDance has hired former Facebook and Yahoo senior executive Blake Chandlee to help drive its international expansion of short-form video app TikTok.

​LA indie Omelet has promoted its managing director and chief strategy officer, Thas Naseemuddeen, to chief executive, replacing incumbent Don Kurz.

TVC Group New York

Sarah Tautin has joined TVC Group New York as its newest executive producer. Tautin will continue producing, writing and storytelling for TVC Group's clients, including RBC, Samsung and The Economist Group.

Wunderman Thompson

After J. Walter Thompson and Wunderman merged last year, Wunderman Thompson has made several changes to its executive suite in the New York office.

Sherine Kazim will take the role of chief experience officer, president Helder Santon has been promoted to chief client officer, Michael Asaro will become chief operations officer, Ingrid Bernstein is chief planning officer, Will Sandwick and Arun Kumar will share the role of chief data officer, while Andy Jacobs will pick up the role of chief technology officer.

Johannes Leonardo

Johannes Leonardo has nabbed veteran Wieden+Kennedy creative, Jimm Lasser, to take up the role of executive creative director. He has been tasked with directing the creative team for the account.


MasterClass has appointed David Schriber to the newly-created role of its first chief marketing officer. Schriber is responsible for global marketing initiatives across the organization.


Monigle has hired Jim Lowell to lead its new New York City office as managing principal. Lowell comes from FutureBrand where he was president, Americas for nine years.


Fig has welcomed nine new senior team members. Molly Jamison, David Goss, Ben Grube and Brian Eden will join as creative directors, Paulo Carvajal and Anibal Casso as group strategy directors, Megan Harris as executive director, distribution, as well as Kristen King and Finnian O'Neill as executive directors, client services.


Sublime has appointed Alexx Cass as vice-president of US publisher partnerships, and Andrew Buckman as global chief operating officer.


Lindsey Allison will join Engine as head of strategy. Prior to joining Engine, Allison was executive vice-president and head of strategy at Deutsch.

Interpublic Group

Interpublic Group's (IPG) executive vice-president and chief financial officer, Frank Mergenthaler has elected to retire at the end of the year. Ellen Johnson, currently senior vice-president of finance and treasurer of IPG, will replace him.
