Instagram has teamed up with charities Campaign Against Living Miserably (Calm) and The Mix to support young people through the upcoming exam period.
This is the latest installment of their #GramFam initiative, which was launched last year to support young people through moments of stress. According to data from Instagram, there was a 640% increase in the use of hashtag #examstress from March to May in 2018 and in May last year, youth charity The Mix recorded a 114% increase in young people reaching out due to exam worry.
In response to this data, the theme of this year's #GramFam is how to stay positive during the exam season. The 'Instazine' brought together celebrities and social media influencers who shared advice on how to stay positive during exams during a 24-hour event in London.
Discussions, inspirational videos, life advice, and handy tips were recorded for an Instazine burst of content which will be hosted on Calm and The Mix's Instagram accounts.
Those involved included; Jameela Jamil, Love Island's Dr Alex George and Montana Brown, Michael Dapaah, Ray BLK, The World Record Egg, Libby's Happy Project and Jim Chapman.
Discussing the next #GramCam installment, Simon Gunning, chief executive of Calm said: “We’re delighted to bring our #GramFam campaign with The Mix and Instagram to life with this #GramFam Live event, centred around supporting young people through the difficult revision and exam period.
"The reaction to this campaign has been great, both from our audience and from the people who have taken part so far such as Dr Alex, Lewis Capaldi, DJ Neev, MOB Kitchen and Calm ambassadors Romesh Ranganathan and Loyle Carner. We’re looking forward to #GramFam Live delivering entertaining and funny content with an important message underpinned throughout.”
Adding to this, Chris Martin, chief executive at The Mix said: “Year on year we see more young people struggling with stress during exam season, which is why our partnership with Instagram, Calm and all the fantastic contributors to #GramFam is so relevant.
"This issue of the Instazine will reach far and wide with tips from new supporters such as Jameela Jamil and KissFM's Tom Green, enabling us to support anyone struggling under the pressure of exams as well as letting them know that The Mix is there for them whatever life throws their way.”
