Carousell hires new commercial chief to drive the transition to premium publisher

Ng’s focus will be leading its transformation to a ‘premium publisher’, a strategy that also saw it hire former Singapore Press Holding’s Su Lin Tan earlier this year.

He will also lead the commercial partnerships, including advertising, high-value verticals and go-to-market partnerships. Ultimately, the announcement said, he’d be charged with growing the interest in its business solutions.

Siu Rui Quek, Carousell co-founder and CEO, said: “We are at a stage with strong potential to scale. Currently, 1 in 4 Singaporeans use Carousell monthly, and with rapid growth regionally, it is imperative that we continue to attract top talents that would elevate our positioning and growth. With his extensive understanding of the classified space and business verticals, Lewis has displayed a solid record of growing robust revenue streams and executing high-impact business solutions.

There is a significant and growing market for high-value verticals such as Cars and Property, and we look forward to leveraging Lewis’ experience in these areas that pave the way to achieve greater success across South East Asia.”

Prior to joining Carousell, Ng was chief business officer at PropertyGuru, where he had roles that spanned marketing and client retention. He was also commercial director for TripAdvisor in APAC and was one of the first employees in Singapore.

The company recently hired 72andSunny Singapore, following a competitive pitch, to drive its advertising in the region, focusing on helping it grow market share and audience for its advertisers.
