In a bid to reignite the nation’s love for the Whopper burger, Burger King will tomorrow (17 April) launch a 'Whopper Takeover' where only one item will be on the menu.

Its ‘Go Whopper or Go Home’ campaign honours Burger King’s renowned burger so much so, it is gifting a whole day just for it.

Marking its first UK Whopper campaign in over a decade, the effort created by BBH comprises multiple cross-channel activations, including a ‘Whopper Mandate’ running in the Metro Tuesday (16 April).

To accompany this, Burger King has unveiled two films to run on TV.

Set on ‘Whopper Takeover’ day, the TV adverts feature Burger King customers getting turned away when they ask for anything other than a Whopper, much to their bemusement.

Free Whoppers will also be available for customers if they download the Burger King app.

Discussing the Whopper campaign, Burger King UK’s marketing director, Katie Evans commented: “We are so excited to treat the nation to our iconic Whopper. The Whopper is Burger King’s pride and joy, and for one day only we think everyone deserves to get involved, tuck in and savour that flame-grilled goodness on us.

Burger fans have no choice, but in a good way. Hope you understand. After all, Burger King is not called 'Home of The Cheeseburger'.”

Adding to this, Ian Heartfield, chief creative officer at BBH London, said: “The customer is always right. Unless it’s a Burger King customer ordering something other than a Whopper on 17 April.”
