Desperados switches on light show house party where ravers swap phones for beer

Desperados has created what it claims is the largest-ever video light show. It launched it a house party using the mobile phones of its attendees as part of its 'Epic Parties Imagined by You' series.

The premise stems from the growing trend for 'unplugged parties' where phones are banned or locked away. ‘Epic Parties Imagined by You’ is a yearlong series of acts where Desperados asks the public to come up with party ideas.

The party, from We Are Pi, was imagined by Karolina Gilob, who felt phones were negatively affecting the way people socialise and encouraged party goers to swap their phones for beer. Linked together, 2,000 phone screens created a light show, which played synchronised animations to the music.

‘Epic Parties Imagined by You’ will culminate in a crowdsourced party called YourFest.

Desperados' global brand director Diederik Vos said: “Born out of wild experimentation, we have a bold mindset which led us to push the boundaries when dreaming up our latest series of acts.

"Our goal was to ignite the party spirit with creativity and experimentation, but we wanted to give partygoers around the world the opportunity to shape their own party adventures. This led us to co-create a series of epic parties and festivals imagined by partygoers.”
