French football star Eric Cantona has returned to his old stomping ground after requisitioning an old sea fort to serve as a ‘Brexit Bunker’ for Brits seeking to hunker down away from the political storm engulfing the country.

Dreamed up by bookmaker Paddy Power and creative agency Officer & Gentleman the stunt has established a safe haven somewhere in the English Channel from which lucky competition winners will be able to ride out the uncertainty in safety.

An online advert released today depicts Cantona strutting his stuff at sea, mocking Theresa May and senior Brexiteers including Boris Johnson and Jacob Rees-Mogg.

Cantona commented: “Brexit is like Boris Johnson’s hair, he’s the only one who doesn’t think it’s a complete disaster. That’s why I have created the Brexit Bunker: A British Noah’s Ark! Here, one specially selected Brit can take shelter from the constant bombardment of Brexit chatter.”

For those unable to relocate offshore Paddy Power has also created a helpful set of instructional videos for people to survive after Brexit Day on 29 March.

Cantona's enduring popularity has seen him take a starring role as Kronenbourg ambassador.
