LIDA marry the ‘best of art and science’ with twin appointments

Cheil Worldwide’s Janie Rees arrives as chief strategy officer, joined at the top table by former strategy partner James Calvert, who has been promoted to chief data officer. Together, the pair complete the new management team which dovetails with a new four-word mantra, ‘make work people welcome’.

Rees brings a wealth of experience to her new role having led planning for the Samsung Home account and will lead Lida’s strategy to best embody its new people-first proposition.

Calvert meanwhile has been rewarded for playing an instrumental role in winning a series of pitches for accounts including Costa Coffee, AXA and Experian. Now Calvert will develop Lida’s data credentials to ensure they bring maximum benefit to its creative, media and technology offer.

Goodman said: “As we double down on creativity, it’s essential that we don’t lose sight of the importance of the role that data, tech and innovation play in delivering great work for clients. These two appointments, which represent the best of art and science, allow us to ensure that we are leading the industry on all of these fronts and that we are well-placed to deliver against our new proposition, ‘Make work people welcome’.”

Lida has found itself in a state of flux over recent weeks which has seen Goodman promoted to chief executive officer alongside Claire Cootes, who was named as the chief operating officer. Chief creative officer Ben Golik, who arrived from Rapp in February last year to replace Tom Thomas, completes the spate of recent changes.
