Marketers from The New York Times, Regal Entertainment and TGI Friday’s were among the winners of this year’s Valiente Awards in Austin.

The ceremony, held at The Drum Arms during the annual SXSW festival and sponsored by Springbox, saw marketers from companies across America gather to celebrate being bold in their professions.

Across five categories, this year’s winners were announced by founder John Ellett, chief executive officer of Springbox.

The winners were:

Inspire - David Rubin, chief marketing officer for the New York Times

Be Bold - Gabi Zijderveld, the chief marketing officer for Affectiva

Connect - Sherif Mityas, the chief marketing officer for TGI Fridays

Innovate - Ken Thewes, the chief marketing officer for Regal Entertainment

Transform - Angelica Munson, global president and chief digital officer for Shiseido Group

“This year’s winners really exemplified the attributes of courage, not only courage as disrupters in their industries but courage to adopt innovative tech ahead of the crowd and be bold. The way they are engaging with consumers is Innovative and they are each at the forefront of driving change for the future of marketing,” commented Ellett.

Last week, Austin-based agency Springbox was acquired by Prophet.
