The GIF Fest aims to showcase the newly commissioned gifs in a variety of ways.

These creatives can submit their original ‘Magic’ themed gifs, for an opportunity to be showcased alongside some of the best local and international image makers at the festival’s exhibition, which will run from March 28 to April 1, 2019.

The bus shelter campaign will run for two weeks from March 14 to 27, all day across 10 locations.

The GIF Fest, part of the National Arts Council's Noise Singapore, aims to showcase the newly commissioned gifs in a variety of ways, from LEDs, to projections and site-specific installations. For the first time this year, vertical screens will highlight gifs.

“The vertical video has been causing controversy for traditionalists since its invention, but artists, creatives and filmmakers have always been the first to embrace new things,” said Steve Lawler, the creative director of The Unusual Network.

“This year’s Noise Gif Fest has included the vertical format as part of its showcase. Thanks to sponsorship from the brilliant people at Clear Channel (Singapore) we will be able to connect this new breed of creatives to a massive new audience. Singapore's about to be bombarded with GIFS on the streets!”

The Drum recently spoke to supermarket chain Giant about how it used gifs to o strengthen its position as a mass-market retailer that is not only known for its value but also as a brand that shares wealth and prosperity
