Joanna Lord embarks on Skyscanner journey after landing CMO role

Skyscanner has appointed Joanna Lord as its chief marketing officer, a role which will entail management of the flight fare aggregator’s approximately 300-strong marketing department.

A former CMO at subscription fitness service ClassPass Lord will be tasked with driving further expansion of the marketing department as well as boosting the brand and powering further global growth from its London HQ.

CEO Bryan Dove commented: “I’ve known Joanna for years and have been consistently impressed with her impact on brands and her leadership in creating world class teams. Joanna is joining us at an exciting time in our growth story after nearly doubling our growth function in the last few years. We're excited to have an exceptional marketing leader joining our team to guide our next steps in helping travelers globally.”

Lord reacted: “My focus will be growing both the Skyscanner brand and guiding talented individuals in marketing teams across the world. What with the global success Skyscanner has seen over the past decade, the Skyscanner brand continues to evolve.”

At ClassPass Lord was responsible for growing the marketing and brand of the business, increasing its subscriber base to nigh on half a million in the process.

Skyscanner was purchased by Chinese travel firm Ctrip for $1.7bn in 2016.
