Amazon has released a series of sci-fi-tinged teasers for its Super Bowl spot, showing the likes of Harrison Ford, Broad City stars Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson and Nasa twins Mark and Scott Kelly participating in something dubbed 'The Amazon Beta Testing Program'.

In Ford's case, faux reluctantly. The Hollywood star is shown opening a futuristic-looking briefcase and being greeted by Amazon's Alexa, welcoming him to the top-secret program. With a resigned sigh, Ford tells the camera: "Urgh, I hate this already."

The 10-second teasers, posted to Amazon's Alexa blog, end with the promise to reveal how the stars fared on Super Bowl Sunday.

Although Amazon has not confirmed it is running a Super Bowl commercial this year, its blog post says: "Amazon recruited some famous friends to test new Alexa technologies. To see what happened, tune into the big game on 2.3.19."

The trailers suggest Amazon will be following the celebrity-packed formula that served it well in its 2018 spot, which showed the likes of Cardi B, Gordon Ramsay and Anthony Hopkins taking turns to be the voice of its smart speaker after Alexa lost her voice.
