Games company Team Cooper rebrands as Peek & Poke

Sheffield-based games company Team Cooper has rebranded as Peek & Poke to reflect its shift to focus on white label HTML5 solutions.

Founded in 2006, Team Cooper started out making Flash banners and websites for a roster of agency clients. In the years that followed, the company grew to a team of eight, building bespoke Flash games for brands and broadcasters including the BBC, Nickelodeon and Sky, and earning a BAFTA-nomination along the way. When Flash fell out of favour in 2014, the company faced difficulty and scaled back to a team of two, with a new focus on HTML5 technology to create a new, cross-platform offering.

The rebooted Team Cooper also moved from delivering bespoke games to providing ready-to-go solutions which could be easily re-branded or re-skinned. The company has since begun to see growth again with the appointment of a marketing manager in 2016 and an additional games artist and account manager in 2017.

Tim Cooper, managing director of Peek & Poke, said: “With Team Cooper’s offer having changed dramatically from when the company first started in 2006, it felt like an appropriate time to re-brand and re-affirm the company’s positioning.

“I’m so pleased that we have reached this point in the business, last year saw us reach a strategic milestone with the launch of Piknik, our off-the-shelf branded games service and we’re starting 2019 as we mean to go on, by launching the new brand. It’s the perfect next step in the development of the company, we’re excited to move forward and keep delivering engaging game campaigns for our clients.”

Sheffield based agency Born + Raised delivered the new brand identity and website, focusing on the emotional connections that games offer, while keeping the playful nature of the original Team Cooper brand.

Cooper explained: “The new name is rooted in the history of computer games programming. An appropriately fun and playful representation of the brand, which Born + Raised have brought to life with the addition of a brand icon to tie everything together. The Peek, the Poke and the positive connections they create.”

Peek & Poke currently works with clients including DFDS, Nurishment Filling Station and Coors Light.
