The Golden Globes is one of the biggest nights of the year for the entertainment industry and since the dawning of social media, it has been a night to look forward to for the online commentary. This year, the talk of the town was not a celebrity but the Fiji water girl.

Fiji Water

Fiji water dominates the online chat after the Golden Globes

Fiji water is a longstanding sponsor of the event but those not attending the event may not have known until this year, when the model holding the bottles on the red carpet appeared across many of the shots being shared around the internet and the media.

Within hours the photo bomber had turned into a meme, and the internet had conjured up a stream of witty comments and even a parody Twitter account for the, as yet, unknown representative of the brand.

According to Time magazine, the brand had been working with the Golden Globes since 2015 but had recently brought in a partner, Matrix Model Staffing, to get the brand more exposure from its investment. It is also clear that Getty was involved somehow, as the majority of the images are tied to one Getty photographer, Stefanie Keenan. The model has appeared behind images with high profile celebrities, including Dakota Fanning and Luke Evans, Jim Carey, Idris Elba and Judy Greer.
