Professor Robert E Kelly, who shot to fame last year after his bold kids interrupted a live global BBC TV interview, has fronted a Christmas ad with a message about family for Hotels.com.

The expert was propelled to international stardom in 2017 when a comedy of errors led his kids Marion and James to enter a room as he was explaining South Korean politics live on the BBC. His wife, Jung-a Kim, raced in frantically to stop the blooper but it was too late.

Now, Hotels.com South Korea – where Kelly is based – has caught up with the family, who are spending Christmas in Ohio with the American academic's parents.

The short spot, styled as a breaking news bulletin, aims to recognise the role that travel plays in bringing families closer together.

Kellysays in the spot: "Thanks to Hotels.com, we’re home together to be wrapped up in each other’s presence in Ohio. Wherever you are, we would like to wish you the joy of a family reunion and a wonderful holiday”.
