US Creative Work of the Week: Stephen Curry has dinner with Anwar Jibawi’s ‘family’ for Brita

Everybody loves a funny character, and social media star Anwar Jibawi plays a whole family of them in a spot for Brita that features NBA superstar Stephen Curry.

'Home for the Holidays' is the latest from Brita and Mcgarrybowen Chicago, demonstrating the absurdity of relying on bottled water for holiday occasions.

Featuring Curry as a holiday guest at Jibawi’s family celebration, the spot demonstrates the relatable craziness people deal with when it comes to getting together with family around the holidays. Jibawi plays every character, including his mom, dad, and grandpa — a la Eddie Murphy in the Nutty Professor. The short film shows how awkward and embarrassing family can be when you have a two-time NBA MVP sitting next to you at the dinner table.

The strategy was born out of the insight that around the holidays, people use a lot of bottled water during family gatherings. And while this time of the year is all about giving, what many people don’t realize the toll that their disposable bottled water consumption is taking on the planet. The ad depicts the disconnect and presents Brita as a better water option, without the waste.

For Jibwai’s chameleon-like creativity and Curry’s hapless star character, The Drum’s readers voted the campaign the US Creative Work of the Week.
