Shop Direct is hitting the high street this Black Friday with a real-time out of home sales message on behalf of Very.co.uk.

The location-based promotion will regale passersby with real-time updates concerning stock availability and consumer demand for its latest hot products in an effort to coral wallets and purses towards its offer.

Created by out of home specialists Posterscope in partnership with Taggstar, the campaign seeks to hand the internet retailer its own physical presence in shopping arcades and town centres ahead of the annual sales event.

On Black Friday itself the campaign will culminate with hourly rolling updates on the latest sales in an effort to build a feeding frenzy.

Alexandra Porritt, client strategy director at Posterscope, said: “Despite Black Friday being largely an online phenomenon, huge numbers of people still head to the shops to browse and shop the best deals, so OOH is a must-have. It provides a shop window to the high street via digital OOH, offering an opportunity to reach greater numbers of consumers.”

The campaign will span 1,470 digital six sheets in high traffic areas around the country as a precursor to a wider Christmas campaign appearing on TV, VoD, digital display, social, mobile, print and YouTube.

Last year retailers such as Asda snubbed Black Friday over fears hordes of stampeding shoppers could come to blows.
