Broadcaster and naturalist Sir David Attenborough has been recruited by the UN to help engage the global public with crunch talks at the UN Climate Change Conference next month.

The People’s Seat campaign has been devised by a clutch of WPP agencies to enable ordinary citizens to share their own experience of climate change via the hashtag #TakeYourSeat, with these messages forming the basis for an address to be given by Attenborough to delegates on 3 December.

Attenborough said: “This is an opportunity for people from across the globe, regardless of their nationality or circumstances, to be part of most important discussion of this century: the unprecedented action needed to reach the Paris Agreement targets.

“I encourage everyone to take their seat and to add their voice so that the People’s Seat Address truly represents a mix of voices from across the world.”

Conceived by Grey, Town Productions, Kantar TNS, Lightspeed, Finsbury, BCW, The Social Partners and MediaCom in partnership with the UN the campaign seeks to empower ordinary citizens to stand up and make their voices heard at a crucial juncture for the planet.

Attenborough has previously fronted The Trash Isles campaign in an effort to reduce ocean plastic waste.
