Fashion house Burberry has launched a Christmas campaign which has eschewed more familiar tropes of fairy lights and snow to shoot a ‘realistic’ depiction of the big day, albeit through a ‘fantasy lens’.

Shot by Juno Calypso, ‘Close Your Eyes and Think of Christmas’ boasts an all-star cast including the likes of Kristin Scott Thomas, Matt Smith, Naomi Campbell and M.I.A who each play their parts against a backdrop of delayed trains, feasting, family and unreliable weather.

Calypso commented: “I wanted to portray a more realistic British Christmas, but still shot through a fantasy lens. The campaign takes you through all the key seasonal rituals, both good and bad. That’s what brings us together.”

Amid the madness, Burberry showcases signature pieces of fashion-ware such as its trench coat, archive-print scarves, and The Belt Bag. The campaign also includes a preview of the new Vivienne Westwood and Burberry collaboration.

It will be hoping to win over shoppers this Christmas after it faced backlash over its use of real fur and burning of unsold goods.
