Vodafone UK is using its Christmas campaign to show the next chapter of the love story between actor and brand ambassador Martin Freeman and his on-screen girlfriend Clare.

The 'Christmas Covered' spot extols the virtues of the telco's improved 4G network and comes exactly a year after Vodafone ignighted the on-screen romance.

This year, with no gift for the late arrival Clare turns to her Vodafone 4G enabled smartphone to source a last-minute surprise, leading Freeman to deliver an ice-skating routine worthy of Torvill and Dean.

The humorous ad looks to highlight how Vodafone can make the hectic festive season a little easier.

Devised by WPP Team Red (comprising Ogilvy UK and Wavemaker) the campaign kicks off on Friday (9 November) with a series of high-profile commercial spots poised to run during Saturday’s X-Factor Live show and Monday’s edition of Coronation Street.

It will span TV, out of home, digital, retail, social and PR.

Freeman's last Vodafone advert was banned by the Advertising Standards Authority for misleading consumers by failing to specify the terms of a 30-day service guarantee.
