A jury of twelve media and marketing leaders considered over 30 names as part of the shortlisting process.

The group nominated the six people who best demonstrated how they are evolving their organisations to be more people-centric and working smarter with partners, such as their agencies, as well as delivering inspiring work.

The full shortlist is:

  • Ukonwa Ojo, chief marketing officer for consumer beauty at Coty
  • Marc Pritchard, chief brand officer at Procter & Gamble
  • Raja Rajamannar, chief marketing and communications officer at Mastercard
  • Syl Saller, chief marketing and innovation officer at Diageo
  • Keith Weed, chief marketing and communications officer at Unilever
  • And Claudia Willvonseder, chief marketing officer at Ikea

David Wheldon, Jury and WFA president, said: “A big congratulations to all six marketers on the shortlist for this year’s Global Marketer of the Year. All have been judged by their peers to be demonstrating the hugely powerful role that regional and global marketers can play both internally and in terms of their brands relationships with consumers.”

The next stage in the process will be a public and jury vote with each element accounting for 50% of the final score before the winner is announced in January. You can vote here.

Stephan Loerke, chief executive of the WFA, said: “The job description for global and regional marketers is getting more and more complex but these six outstanding examples demonstrate how it can be a function that delivers for their companies, their consumers and for society more widely. Congratulations to them all.”

This is the second year that the WFA runs its Global Marketer of the Year Award. Global Marketer of the Year 2017 went to Unilever’s Keith Weed.
