This week has seen another wave of appointments and departures at brands, media owners and agencies. The Drum has rounded up the key moves from the EMEA, APAC and North America regions below.

EMEA people are on the move

Saatchi & Saatchi

Saatchi & Saatchi has named former 72andSunny New York executive creative director Guillermo Vega as its new chief creative officer (CCO) in London.

Vega will report to chief executive Magnus Djaba and global chief creative officer Kate Stanners when he joins the management team in London.

WeQ

WeQ, a global mobile ad tech company, has appointed seasoned Sven Lubek as managing director. Lubek will shift from WeQ Chairman to active director, focusing on mobile ad technology innovation and new product development.

Publicis Media

There's been a raft of appointments at Publicis Media to expand its e-commerce division. Joining as regional practice lead for commerce in the Americas is Amy Lanzi in Americas while Samrat Sengupta will head it up in APAC. Jonathan Lewis-Jones will oversee the EMEA region having previously been global commerce director at Starcom.

Each regional practice lead will be responsible for leading and driving the Commerce Practice within their regions, spanning all agencies within the Groupe, including Starcom, Zenith, Digitas, Spark Foundry, Blue 449 and Performics.

Headland

Former JWT global planning director Rob Alexander has joined Headland where he will advise a broad range of the agency's clients on strategic planning, campaign development and execution.

Kyu

Farah Ramzan Golant has been appointed as the chief executive officer for Kyu EMEA. In this new role, she will drive Kyu's international expansion plans and help build a European hub for the Kyu Collective. She will report to chief executive officer Michael Birkin.

Fraser

Fernando Barbella has joined Fraser, a newly founded agency in Germany, as executive creative director. He departs London where he led creative for agencies including SevenC3, JWT, DDB and BBDO.

We Are Social

We Are Social have opened its 12th international office in Madrid which will be run by Alberto Pachano, who has joined as managing director.

Gabriele Cucinella, Stefano Maggi and Ottavio Nava, the co-founders of We Are Social Milan and joint chief executive officers of We Are Social in Italy, will now also take on the remit of joint chief executive officers of We Are Social Spain.

In Madrid, Pachano will work alongside a newly-created team of ten.

Accorhotels

Chris Cahill and Jean-Jacques Morin have been appointed as deputy chief executive officers of Accorhotels and their respective remits have been extended accordingly. Specifically, Jacques Morin will be responsible for finance, communications and strategy, including the hotel group's marketing.

Creative Industries Federation

Tim Davie CBE, chief executive of BBC Studios and industry chair of the Creative Industries Council, has been appointed to Creative Industries Federation board.

Y&R London

Y&R London has appointed Sophie Lewis, currently head of planning at Iris, as chief strategy officer. She will sit on the senior management team.

TSB

TSB’s head of marketing for SME, Jo Newman, will help lead the charge as part of TSB’s new SME Banking leadership team. She is one of eight women in the 11 strong leadership team.

St. James's Place

St. James's Place has appointed Claire Blackwell as director of marketing where she will be responsible for overseeing the strategic and operational development of the company’s marketing activities and developing the St. James’s Place brand proposition.

APAC people on the move

DDB Australia

DDB Australia has appointed former One Green Bean CEO Carl Ratcliff as chief strategy officer, DDB Sydney. Ratcliff has more than 20 years’ experience in the world of building brands both in Australia and the UK, and has run agencies in Sydney and Melbourne.

Zalora

Online fashion retailer Zalora has named Elias Pour as chief marketing officer. Prior to this, Pour worked at Red Bull as head of digital, and was responsible for the brand’s digital marketing, content production and e-commerce sales in Asia-Pacific.

Vocalink

Vocalink, a Mastercard company, has appointed Andrew Buckley as its executive vice president for international product, marketing and communications.

IBM

IBM has hired Deepali Naair as chief marketing officer. She will be responsible for driving the marketing agenda for IBM's India and South East Asia business.

Jellyfish

Digital agency Jellyfish has appointed Vincent Song as regional director, reporting directly to global chief executive officer Rob Pierre. His remit will be to establish and grow the agency’s presence across the region.

J. Walter Thompson

J. Walter Thompson has elevated of Tista Sen as regional creative director. Tista, currently a national creative director, will now have the additional oversight of JWT Sri Lanka.

Priya Shivakumar, currently the executive creative director of JWT Bangalore, has also been promoted to national creative director. Shivakumar will now work with clients across JWT Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.

Mindshare

Mindshare, under WPP's media arm GroupM has hired former Carat global digital and data chief James Harris as its global chief strategy officer.

During Harris' time at Carat, he oversaw the agency network's digital capabilities and drove digital strategy and solutions for its global roster.

Mcgarrybowen

Mike Wente has been named chief creative officer for Swirl Mcgarrybowen. The San Francisco-based agency is a new entity comprised of the legacy Mcgarrybowen office and the acquisition of Swirl — now over 200 people strong.

In his new role, Wente will lead creative teams to deliver breakthrough brand experiences in a digitally connected age for clients including Intel, Clorox, Microsoft and eBay. He will report to Ned Crowley, US chief creative officer for Mcgarrybowen. He joins from VML.

Lord Danger

Creative commercial production studio Lord Danger has expanded with the addition of Lena Kazer as director of business development.

Fake Love

Brooklyn-based, full-service experience agency Fake Love recently hired Jamaal Stewart as its newest senior business director.

22squared

Matt O’Rourke has joined 22squared as chief creative officer, reporting to chief executive Richard Ward. O’Rourke is an 18-year advertising veteran working at top creative agencies including McCann, Crispin Porter + Bogusky and Wieden+Kennedy. He comes directly from Grey New York where as executive creative director he oversaw creative on the Volvo brand across the agency’s global network. O’Rourke is based in Atlanta.

Social Deviant

Social Deviant, a Chicago-based, full-service creative agency, has made several recent new hires. Lauren Haberman, who was most recently at Doner, joins as a senior copywriter. Darren Coon has joined the agency as a senior designer from Pivet Design. Christine Cotter joined the Social Deviant team as a business and account lead, while Graham Spector joined as a content planner and strategist.

Advertising Research Foundation

Barbara J. Murrer, senior director of marketplace insights for Levi Strauss & Co., has been named chairperson of the board for the Advertising Research Foundation (ARF), the industry leader in advertising research among brand advertisers, agencies, media companies and research firms.

Murrer is the first female marketer to serve as chair in the ARF’s 82-year history and the sixth woman overall. She succeeds Jed Meyer, director, brand measurement, Google, who has held the position since 2016.

Young & Laramore

Young & Laramore has promoted Bess Browning to associate media director, working on Ball State University, American Standard, Newfields, and Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance.

Superprime

Superprime has hired Yorgos Lanthimos as director for US commercial representation.

We Are Royale

We Are Royale has welcomed Chad Howitt as creative director in its Los Angeles office. Howitt has worked with many brands including VW, Honda, Marvel, Ubisoft, Under Armour, The Grammys, and Westin Hotels.
