Survey puts 'mental resilience' of agency leaders in the spotlight
The specialist accountancy firm behind the annual Benchpress report into UK independent agency performance has launched a new survey into the mental resilience of agency owners.
The Wow Company are researching the mental stresses experienced by agency leaders.
The survey - which Peter Czapp, co-founder of The Wow Company, calls, “arguably the most important piece of research we've ever conducted” – is open to responses until the end of September, with full results to be made available in November.
Czapp said: “We've conducted several research projects over the years and these have often looked at the fundamentals of running an agency - staff, cash, projects, pricing, systems, profit. This time, we wanted to go much deeper and explore a topic that I think is critical to the success of an agency, but often not talked about - the mental resilience of the business owner.
“When agency owners get together, the default response to the question "how's business" is often "business is great". It's rare to get beyond the pleasantries and really explore the challenges that leaders face every day in their agencies. This survey is designed to do just that - to uncover what really keeps people awake at night and to explore the practical steps that they can take to improve the mental resilience of both themselves and their team.
“I hope this research shows agency owners that they're not alone in the challenges they face. We're all going through similar experiences and it's ok if things don't go to plan, or you're feeling down. You're not alone. Hopefully, this will encourage people to start talking more about their own personal challenges.”
