AS Roma players get infected by Venom as its Warner Bros partnership takes life
Hollywood studio Warner Bros has partnered with Italian football side AS Roma, the studio will hope to leverage the club’s eccentric tone on social media and its slew of football superstars.
Venom takes over the Roma dressing room
The partnership will help the studio promote Sony Pictures movies in the Italian market with the first activation rolling out to promote Tom Hardy’s Venom.
Manchester United and Arsenal have similar studio deals in place. Football clubs and their expansive audiences are increasingly being favoured as promotional channels.
Daniele De Rossi, Kostas Manolas, Justin Kluivert and Antonio Mirante all get enthralled by the venom parasite, made famous in Marvel’s Spider-Man comics. Club legend Francesco Totti also stars.
The video marks the first video released in the partnership.
American-owned Roma has a wider reach than your standard Italian club, in many ways it is at the forefront of social video in football with what has been acknowledged as an irreverent tone that has lightened up many transfer windows now.
The movie, directed by Ruben Fleischer, comes out in theatres 4 October.
