Ikea has appointed Wieden+Kennedy Shanghai as its lead creative agency as it looks to grow the brand in China.

Ikea appoints Wieden+Kennedy Shanghai for China creative account
The two-year appointment will see Wieden+Kennedy Shanghai assume responsibility for all the brand’s creative work including national integrated campaigns, store opening campaigns, as well as digital, social and retail communications.
Wieden+Kennedy Shanghai was appointed to the account following a competitive pitch. The account was previously managed by BBH.
Lukasz Ostrowski, marketing director of Ikea, said: “We have high hopes for working with W+K Shanghai to build our unique brand, draw in a new generation of customers to find the love in everyday lives and drive growth in a new and existing market.”
Bryan Tilson, managing director of W+K Shanghai, said, “We’re so proud to be partnering with IKEA in China. It’s such a special brand with a legacy of great creative work and we’re excited to see what we can accomplish in working together.”
China hosts many of Ikea's largest stores globally and the Swedish furniture brand serves as a destination for Chinese consumers who enjoy the cafes, the air conditioning and can often be found sleeping in the beds.
